New Planetarium in St. Petersburg
A planetarium with a 360-degree 3D-projection will be constructed by the end of 2019.
The planetarium will be housed by Lakhta Center, one of the most famous projects in Russia in the past several years. The planetarium will be constructed in the shape of a shere hovering in the air at the height of the fifth floor. The visitors will have a unique opportunity to visualise their journey into space with a 360-degree 3D-projection in the 16-meter dome. Holograms, a moving floor, special-effects seats, and illusions of lightning and rain, virtual smoke, smells will complete the experience. Besides movies about astronomy the visitors will also learn about geography, geology, flora and fauna, climate change and atmospheric phenomena. The planetarium will accommodate about 100 peaple.
The planetarium will be located about 30 minute ride from the city center and near Gazprom Arena, where the most segnificant bootball matches are being held. A visit to the planetarium may become an unusual entertaiment before the match. And Lakhta Center will offer plenty of incentive activities for groups.
