The capital of Russia was included in the Top 10 cities to visit in 2017 by the popular publisher for travelers, Lonely Planet.

The largest book publisher for travelers in the world was established in 1972 and has about 300 expert authors that each year participate in choosing new popular destinations. For 2017 Moscow was included in the list of the top 10 cities to visit. Among its various other qualities Lonely Planet pointed at the major infrastructural development such as a new metro line and the new Zhukovsky International Airport. The 2017 Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup also played a huge part in increasing the attractiveness of Moscow and other Russian tourism destinations.
