St. Petersburg City Day
In 2 weeks, almost right after Friday, the 13th, St. Petersburg will celebrate its 313 birthday - a mysterious date for an enigmatical city.
On the 27th of May, in 1703, Peter I laid the foundation stone of the Peter and Paul Fortress, located in the heart of the city. And every year since that date the city comes alive with carnivals on Nevsky prospect and theatrical performances in popular squares. Musicians, painters, dancers, jugglers and magicians show their best at a choreographed parade.
In 2016 the guests of the city will not be disappointed as the Palace Square will become a magnificent venue for various kinds of circus and musical shows that will also include sport and cinema stars of Russia. On the 28th of May the celebration will expand to other venues such as the Alexander park, the Neva river embankment and other places. The celebration will start on Friday and last till Sunday culminating in colorful fireworks in the city center.
