Anna Kim, our FIT manager, visited one more FIFA destination - Rostov-on-Don located in the South of Russia, on the mouth of the Don River, by the Black Sea.

Several hotels of international chains are being constructed for the championship - Sheraton, Ibis and Hyatt. The latter will be opened in the end of this year. Today visitors can enjoy 4 star Mercure by Accor located in the city center. FIFA Stadium will be on the left side of the Don River, very close to the renovated famous Voroshilovsky bridge between the Left Bank and the Right Bank of the river. There will be two airports during the championship - one of them is in 30 minutes’ ride from the city center, the other one is in 1 hour ride. It is also planned to build new road that will directly connect the airport and the stadium.

Rostov-on-Don is cozy southern city with multinational citizens and rich history. This region played an important role since ancient Greek times. As a city its history began about 250 years ago, and during this time has grown from a small trading-post into the administrative center of Southern Russia. The city has beautiful mixed architecture from guest houses of 19th century to Stalin period’s buildings. One of the most famous city attractions, a theater with unusual design in the form of a tank, considered a masterpiece of Soviet architecture. Rostov-on-Don was historically divided into 2 parts by the Don - Right Bank and Left Bank. The city itself is situated on the Right Bank and stretches along the river for 40 km. The left side is more casual with private restaurants, hotels and tourist complexes.

Guests can spend time at a very beautifully renovated promenade on the Right Bank with free wi-fi, playgrounds, sculptures and parks. Government plans to upgrade public transport, to build new underground walkways, pavements and renovate facades of buildings. You can also enjoy the beauty of the Theatre Square with some of the main city sights and proceed to the former Armenian town Nakhichevan (now being the part of Rostov-on-Don) and see the difference in architecture and national traditions. Don’t miss a chance to visit Pushkinskaya Street, which is often called the city’s oasis.
