Russkie Prostori in Volgograd
Russkie Prostori continue to explore FIFA destinations in Volgograd (also known as Tsaritsyn and Stalingrad), city on the Volga River in the South of Russia.
Our project and sales manager Elena Koreshkova visited the city, studied the possibilities for cultural, leisure and sport activities and also tried some of them. Volgograd can offer a large number of hotels including international chains, such as Park Inn by Radisson and Hampton by Hilton. It also has plans to build more to satisfy the needs of its guests and the football fans in 2018. The new airport terminal is getting ready to welcome all the guests in this historical city, it is located about 30 minutes’ drive from the center! The new FIFA stadium is being constructed on the sight of the old stadium of the Rotor Football Club, it will be located just several kilometers away from the main international hotels and the main historical sight - The Motherland Calls museum complex. Volgograd has plenty of activities to offer for incentive groups as well as for individual guests, especially in summer when the Volga is open for water sports.
Volgograd is the administrative center of the Volgograd region. This is one of the most important industrial, economic and cultural and historical centers of Russia. Its population is over 1 million people. It is a monument-city and a hero-city, visited by hundreds of thousands of Russians and foreign guests. They are attracted by Volgograd’s nature along with the rich and glorious history. There are many museums and monuments, with a vibrant culture and architecture. The city became famous for its resistance — and the extensive physical damage and death toll it suffered — during the Battle of Stalingrad in World War II. A memorial complex commemorating the battle of Stalingrad, dominated by an immense allegorical sculpture The Motherland Calls, was erected on the Mamayev Kurgan, the hill that saw some of the most intense fighting during the battle. With its 85 meters it is almost twice the height of the Statue of Liberty and almost 3 times the height of Christ the Redeemer; it is the tallest statue of a woman in the world.
After visiting Volgograd, you will have an unforgettable impression. The hero-city is waiting for you, to show you all of its power and beauty. You are welcome to contact #russkieprostori DMC for more information, accommodation and other services in FIFA destinations.
