Saint Petersburg is a birthplace of Russian Imperial ballet that made major influence on this art in the world. We offer you a "behind the curtains" private tour to the iconic place for all ballet dancers – Vaganova Ballet Academy. Established in 1738, it is one of the best and oldest ballet schools in the world. The greatest choreographers who made major impact on the history of ballet taught in the academy, such as Charles-Louis Didelot, Jules-Joseph Perrot, Marius Ivanovich Petipa and many others.

Anna Pavlova, the world famous star of the beginning of the 20th century, was an alumnus of the academy and the first ballerina to tour around the world, including South America, India and Australia. Her dance inspired an Australian chef to create the Pavlova dessert, airy and fresh like the dancer herself. Mathilda Kschessinskaya, Ulyana Lopatkina, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Galina Ulanova are among other graduates of the academy.

Your program will include a tour around the academy: the museum and rehearsal rooms. You will see the “backstage” of famous performances. You will also witness a rehearsal of future ballet stars – their usual routine that will lead to a magnificent dance.

The tour is for a group of 20 persons maximum and will last for about 1 hour and 20 minutes. It can be perfectly combined with a visit to Mariisky or Mikhailovsky, or Aleksandrinsky theatre which are also located in the city center. Please, contact #russkieprostori DMC for more information.
